Achieving Your Goals – Refine, Revise – and Post to Achieve Success
Setting goals is the first step toward achieving success in your life. Whether you are focusing on life goals, career goals, or health and fitness goals, it is not only important to set goals and determine the action steps necessary to accomplish them, but you must continue to revisit and refine your goals on a consistent basis. Goals will not do you any good if they remain in a notebook on your shelf or in a drawer by your bed.
A good practice is to keep your goals visible, which will also remind you to refine or revise when you need to. Sometimes things you thought you wanted are not really what you want after all, though they may be part of the bigger picture.
For instance, you may set a goal to run a marathon but when you really evaluate why you want to reach that goal, you discover the real goal is to lose weight and live a healthier life. Well, in order to accomplish that, you have to do much more than run a marathon. Running a marathon may be an action step toward that goal but that alone will not make you healthy and light.
So, how would you change that goal?
How would your action steps reflect that change? And, most importantly, how will revising the goal to describe exactly what you hope for help you achieve it?
Setting goals is a necessary step toward achieving that which you desire; however, they are dynamic and fluid and you must continue to revisit, refine, and revise them in order to achieve them. So, get out your goal sheet, refine it as needed, post it where you will see it every day, and make sure you take at least one step every day in the direction of your dreams.
